Ronald E. Hancock Obituary
Ronald E. Hancock, 90, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Harmony at State College. Born on July 30, 1933, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Millard S. and Gwendolyn M. (Smutzinger) Hancock. He was married to Emilie (Klebe) Hancock, who passed away on May 26, 2022.
Ron was a 1951 graduate of Philipsburg High School. Following his service in the Army in a MASH unit during the Korean War, he earned a nursing degree from the Pennsylvania Hospital for Men in Philadelphia. He worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at the Philipsburg Hospital, Gettysburg Hospital, Bellefonte Hospital, Mount Nittany Medical Center, and Tyrone Hospital until his retirement.
Ron was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Elks County Club in Philipsburg for many years. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football, baseball and college basketball.
Ron is survived by his son, Steven E. Hancock, of Indiana, PA; his daughters, Lisa Mincemoyer, Laurie Hancock, and Ellen Johnson and her husband, Rick, all of Bellefonte; grandchildren Tyler Rockey (Jacki Nikish), Laura Chargualaf (Mike), Brenton. Mincemoyer, Scott Johnson (Joanna), and Eric Johnson (Kelsey); great grandchildren, Emmett Johnson, Maya Chargualaf, and Reina Johnson; and one brother, James C. Hancock and his wife, Helen, of Chevy Chase, MD. Along with his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Millard Hancock.
No services are planned at this time. Ron's family would like to thank the staff at Harmony and Grane Hospice Care for their attention, care and kindness provided to him.
