Mary L. Burns Obituary
Mary L. Burns, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on February 2, 1942, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Edith E. (Ross) Etters, Sr. On January 5, 1957, in Bellefonte, she married Charles C. Burns, Sr, who survives at home.
Mary attended the Lemont School. She worked in Environment Services at Mount Nittany Medical Center, retiring after 33+ years. She was of the Christian Faith.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting. She liked to listen to country music, especially classic country artists. Mary's family was extremely important to her. She would do anything she could for them. While working at the hospital, she enjoyed interacting with patients and coworkers.
Mary is survived by her husband, four children: Christal A. Beightol of Bellefonte, Joyce M. Lose and her husband, Steven, of Milesburg, Carol L. Bittner of Julian, and Charles C. Burns, Jr of Bellefonte; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by her siblings: Edith Williams of Ohio, Charles Etters and his wife, Sherry, of Lock Haven, Floyd Etters and his wife, Caroline, of Aaronsburg, Lloyd Etters of Lock Haven, and Diane McDonald of Lamar.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph Etters, Jr and Jeffrey Truex; one sister, Lorretta Guthrie, and one granddaughter, Audrey M Bittner.
There will be a public viewing on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, 201 Spring St, Milesburg. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. The burial will follow at Meyer Cemetery, Benner Twp.
