Marvin S Gunsallus Sr. Obituary
Marvin S. Gunsallus, Sr. 84, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on May 5, 1939, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Hazel R. Summers. He was married to Peggy E. (Wettstein) who survives in Bellefonte.
Marvin attended the Bellefonte Area Schools. He was enlisted in the US Navy. He worked for Houser Vending for many years as a vending machine mechanic. He then opened his own auto mechanic shop, Marv's Garage until his retirement.
Marvin was a true Pittsburgh fan. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He played in various pool and dart leagues throughout Centre County. He was a member of the Bellefonte VFW Post 1600, Bellefonte Moose Lodge #206, Bellefonte American Legion Post #33, Howard VFW Post #557, and the Undines Fire Company in Bellefonte. He also enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and riding his motorcycle. He treasured his family and spending time with them. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Marvin is survived by his wife, son: Marvin S. Gunsallus, Jr., and his wife, Landrina, of Bellefonte, daughter: Tina A. Lucas and her companion, William Lock, of Bellefonte, and two grandchildren, Miranda Defluri and Hunter Lucas. He is also survived by his three sisters, Karen Stubenhofer, Lorraine Hall, and Carol Moore.
Along with his mother, Marvin was preceded in death by three brothers: Vernon Holderman, Frankie Summers, and Dallas Summers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 16, 2023, form 4-6pm with a memorial service at 6pm with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. 201 Spring St. Milesburg, PA 16853.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Centre County Toys for Tots Program. Donations can be given throughout Centre County.
