He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Otto and Rose Elizabeth Smead (Howard); his wife Grace Ann Smead (Taylor); his son Howard Smead; and his siblings, Catherine Smead, Howard Otto Smead, Etta Wool, Ann Taylor and Robert "Bob" Smead.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Barr (Steve) of Bellefonte, Michael Smead (Edna Kennedy) of Durango and Jeffery Smead of Bellefonte; his grandchildren, Nicole Picerno (Angelo) and Zachary Brinkman (Cortney); his great grandchildren, Taylor, Ryann, Anderson and Nova; his brother Walter Smead (Sharon); and his daughter-in-law Ida Hornberger of Florida.
