Charles C Burns Sr. Obituary
Charles C. Burns, Sr, 86, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Born on September 2, 1937, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Snook) Burns. On January 5, 1957, in Bellefonte, he married the love of his life, Mary L Etters. Mary passed away on February 26, 2024.
Charles attended the Bald Eagle Area School. He worked as an Auto Mechanic for Bell Buick and then for Krout Pontiac in Bellefonte, retiring after 30+ years of service.
Charles was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, camping, and doing anything outdoors. He liked to mow his grass and ride around on his lawn tractor. He was always the first person there to help family and friends with whatever. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, even people he didn't know.
Charles is survived by three daughters: Christal A. Beightol of Bellefonte, Joyce M. Lose and her husband, Steven, of Milesburg, and Carol L. Bittner of Julian; one son, Charles C. Burns, Jr. of Bellefonte; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his two brothers: Robert Burns and his wife, Linda, of Runville and Richard Burns and his wife, Connie, of Dry Top and one sister, Dorothy Cain of Bellefonte.
Along with his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Audrey M. Bittner, five brothers: John, Eugene "Pepper", Donald "Frog", Pete, and Walter, and five sisters: Agnes Wetzle, Bess Breon, Lois "Sis" Rupert, Rose Burns and Dolly Burns.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, 201 Spring St. Milesburg, PA. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. The burial will follow at Meyer Cemetery in Benner Twp.
