He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Pearl Hoy and Butler; his wife Grace L. Butler (Crain); and his children, Charles Thomas Butler, Jr. (Beverly) of Altoona and Sarah L. Denny (Jacob) of Bellefonte. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
