He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Carlson Smith; his daughters, Sally Pondel (Edward) of Columbus and Molly Applebee of Wattsburg; his brother Thomas Smith (Beverly) of Panama, NY.; his grandchildren, Catlin Pondel (Laura), Kelsey McClellan (Garth), Austin Pondel, Justin Kopta, Garth Applebee and Sylvia Applebee; and his great grandchildren, Wyatt Pondel and Avia Szymanski.
