He is survived by: his wife Anita Marie Lyon; his children, Robert Fitzsimmons (Colette) of Cheltenham and Kim Bates (Richard) of Beach Lake; his grandchildren, Richard C. Bates (Angela) of Honesdale, Melissa Bates Heimbach (Michael) of Winfield, Amanda Bates of Virginia Beach, VA, Vanessa Bates Lancellotti (James) of Virginia Beach, Matthew Fitzsimmons of Cheltenham and Heather Fitzsimmons of Cheltenham; his great grandchildren, Carson, Nolan Bates, Gabriel and Nathan Heimbach; and his sisters, Laverne Smith of Arizona and Patricia Dzwonczyk of New Jersey. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
