He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Kaniper and Betty Jane Blaine Kaniper; his son Clark R. Kaniper; and his brother David C. Kaniper. He is survived by: his wife Joy Shook; his children, Heidi Marie Reppert of Fort Mill, SC and Kyle R. Kaniper of Bath; his son-in-law Robert Reppert; and his grandchildren, Hope, Alex Darron, Matthew Reppert, Emilie and Sophia Kaniper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's name may be made to the church or to Bethlehem.
