He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria Chakan (Doronda) and Michael Chakan; and his brothers, John, Michael and Andy.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Chakan (Kachmar); his children, Linda Wierzalis (Thomas Boyle) of Shenandoah Heights and Joseph Chakan (Chris) of Tamaqua; his grandchildren, Melany Wierzalis, Stefanie Rose (Matthew), Clarissa Chakan, Caleb Chakan and Julie Schlorf (Brobst); and his great grandchildren, Myles and Major Rose.
