He was predeceased by: his parents, Mercedes Gonzalez and Domingo Sanlate; his sibling Guaroa; and his son Elvis Sanlate. He is survived by: his siblings, Caonabo, Dominga, Domingo and Jose; his wife Angela Milagros Sanlate; his children, Rebeca Benitez, Raquel Alonso and Geida Merrell; his sons-in-law, Porfirio Benitez, Jose Luis Alonso and Alton Merrell; his grandchildren, Deborah, Yamil and Samuel; and his great grandchildren, Kevin, Jaden, Faith, Zion, Jacob, Sofia and Elijah James.

That day, he gave his life to Christ, and from then on, his Christian faith became the foundation of his life's passion and pursuits.
