She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Roy Shimabukuro and Florence Nakasone Shimabukuro; her siblings, Jill Palmer (David) and Scott Shimabukuro (Kathleen Chu); her nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Robin, Sky and Toby; her husband Daniel J. Buysse; her children, Caitlin Buysse (Abdullah Kandil), Allison Buysse and Evan Buysse; and her grandchildren, Layla and Rayan Kandil.
