He was predeceased by: his father James Sims; his adoptive parents, Bishop Christopher and Lois Clark; his grandparents, Christopher, Sr. and Bishop Pearl Clark; his sister Elizabeth Mack; his son-in-law Demetrius Frison; and his uncles, Albert Mitchell and Bishop Stanley H. Scott.
He is survived by: his mother Alvanor Sims (William); his son Chandler Monroe Avery; his wife Cheryl Ann Clark; his children, Mickael Frison, Crystal Maddox-Clark and Carlton Mark Avery II (Danielle); his grandchildren, Christopher Frison, Moriah, Cayden Maddox, Xenia Cirino, Charlotte Avery and Carlton Mark Avery, III; his stepmother Gwendolyn Dawud; his father-in-law E. Richard McKim, Sr.; his siblings, Charlotte Richards (RC), Tajuanna Caldwell, Jamillia Anderson, Yvette Buxton, Ella Mack, Jamal Coletrane, Tom Mack (Dale), Andre Mack, Sr. (Angela) and Wardell Harvey (Sonya); his brother-in-law E. Richard McKim, Jr. (Nicole); and his goddaughter Tashia Wilson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
