It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Jane Thomas of Athens, Pennsylvania, born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, who passed away on February 22, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Boyd W. Bates, Sr. and Golden L. Bates (Updegraff); her husband C. David Thomas; her son William Artley, Jr.; and her brothers, Willard Bates, Charles Bates, Lewis Bates and Boyd Bates, Jr..

She is survived by: her daughter Janet Wells (Gary). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Sayre Health Care Activities Department.
