It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jerome Matalavage of Athens, Pennsylvania, born in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, who passed away on August 11, 2020, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Matalavage and Ann Wanagitis Matalavage; his wife Ruth Oplinger of West Nanticoke, PA; his stepdaughter Nancy Cecelski; and his sisters, Patronella Kazokas and Bernadine Jenkins.

He is survived by: his stepdaughter Patricia Heyer (Donald) of Kempton, PA; and his stepgrandsons, William Earl Hess, Jr. (Jean) of Chesapeake, VA and Jeffery Michael Hess (Jennifer) of Carrsville, VA.. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews plus numerous cousins.
