Joan F. Slanders Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan F. Slanders of Aspinwall, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 9, 2025 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben J. Fazekas and Johanna "Helen" Fazekas; and her sisters, Patricia A. George and Teresa M. Rhoades. She is survived by: her siblings-in-law, Robert and Concetta Slanders of Wexford; her nieces, Mary Jo Knabb (late Jeffrey), Susan Rhoades, Lisa Rhoades, Jessica Olesevich (Kyle) and Rebecca Huff (Caleb); her nephew Michael Slanders (Diana); and her pet Bennie.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Walter J. Zalewski Funeral Home (216 44th St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Christ the King Parish (309 Brilliant Ave, Aspinwall, PA 15215).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Joan's name to St. Margaret's Foundation, 15 Freeport Rd. Pittsburgh PA 15215, the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or a charity of one's choice.
