He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Zaenger and Lucille Zaenger (Rich); his wife Judith E. "Judy" Zaenger; and his sister Carole Barth. He is survived by: his son Douglas Zaenger (Susan); his niece Sherri Turner; and his nephew Mark Jechura.
