He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L. Sr. McCleaf and Catherine E. McCleaf (Taylor); and his siblings, Marion Slaybaugh, William "Jim" McCleaf and Robert McCleaf.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra E. McCleaf (Trent); his children, Sherry L. (Tom Cooper) of Gettysburg, Dwayne G. McCleaf (Debra Martin) of Aspers and Bryan E. (Rose McCleaf) of Aspers; and his sister Tanya E. Taylor of Aspers. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
