He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse B. McIlwain and Mary E. Stitt McIlwain; his wife Betty Mae Crissman McIlwain; and his siblings, Mary Ann Dunmire, Dorothy Kennedy, Ruth Cunningham, Janet McIlwain, James X. McIlwain and John F. McIlwain.
He is survived by: his sons, Barry McIlwain (Janie) of Apollo and Michael McIlwain of Apollo; and his grandsons, James McIlwain (Rebecca) of West Vandergrift and Joseph McIlwain of Apollo.
