It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Maxine Isabelle (Nulph) Saxion (Apollo, Pennsylvania), born in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, who passed away on November 27, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Nulph and Mazie Nulph (Waugaman). She is survived by: her daughters, Sherene J. Eckenrode (Pastor Paul), Pam N. Saxion of Ford City and Lori M. Saxion of Oregon; and her grandchildren, Paul S. Eckenrode (Rita), Bryan Eckenrode (Paula), Kara Eckenrode, Danielle Hollingsworth and Tony Gemminetti. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

“Dear Girls, The first obituary I read online did not contain many details of Maxine's amazing long life. I later read the correct extended obituary and was so happy that so many of her interests, jobs, and her title as Mrs. Pennsylvania were listed. I was so glad about that, as she deserved to be remembered and recognized for all she had accomplished in life. Her laughter and smile will be missed. She is now in Heaven with her dear friends and loved ones who have passed before her.”

“Dear Sherene, Pam, and Lori, We were shocked to learn that Maxine had died in November. We didn't see her obituary in the paper or we would have been at the viewing at the funeral home. She died one month before her 99th birthday. But her birthday wasn't in the obituary or her title as Mrs. America, or her job for so many years as the Kiski Twp. tax collector, or her antique decorating expertise. We were so glad to have known Maxine. She was a beautiful human being with a zest for life.”
