He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul H. Shearer and Elsie M. Maurhoff Shearer; and his brother Mark D. Shearer. He is survived by: his siblings, Paul A. Shearer of Allegheny Twp, John H. Shearer (Linda) of Lower Burrell, Frances Waldenville (Ray) of Freeport, Barbara L. Waldenville of Apollo and Elise L. Sackett (William) of Allegheny Twp. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
