He was predeceased by: his parents, Mervin, Sr. Fansler and Mary Reider Fansler; his brothers, John, Marvin and William Fansler; and his son Evan Fansler.

He is survived by: his sons, Mervin M. Fansler, III (Bonita), G. Edward Fansler (Ann) and Michael L. Fansler (Sue); his stepdaughters, Cynthia and Sandra; the mother of his children Eleanor Glancy Yeingst; and his sisters, Mary Hostetter, Fern Folk, Eldora Gleim, LaRue Miller and Esther Snook. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
