He was predeceased by: his parents, John Appelt and Nellie Appelt (Spoonhauer); and his son Charles E. Appelt. He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Lynn Williams (John Williams) and Denah Appelt (Marcus Bell); his grandson Christopher Bell; his daughter Nell Pfautz (Scott Pfautz); his grandchildren, Jason Pfautz (Sara Pfautz) and Jessica Nugent (Dan Nugent); his great grandchildren, Owen, Logan and Emma; and his siblings, Virginia Kleinfelter, George Appelt and Richard Appelt.
