Lou Tartack wrote a sympathy message

“RIP Joe Durbin, President of Local 502, International SPFPA Trustee, you will never be forgotten. You were a rival when it came to the Flyers-Pens games, your phone calls after seeing me sitting behind the Pens bench to tell me how much better the Pens were, and that the Flyers sucked, will be greatly missed. You were a mentor on Union issues, and an advisor of sorts, but most of all you were one of the best friends anyone could've asked for, your friendship lasted through the years.”
