She was predeceased by: her husband Lawrence Friel; her parents, John Fleming and Stella Fleming (Manley); her children, Mary Elizabeth Pickering and Kevin Michael Friel; and her grandson Matt Friel.

She is survived by: her children, Lawrence Thomas Friel, John Patrick Friel, Brendan Anthony Friel, Colum Brian Friel, Terrance Patrick Friel, Maureen Ann Toner and Theresa Eileene DiDomenico. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
