He was predeceased by: his wife Francis Celin Bender; his parents, Marie Englert Bender and Raymond C. Bender; and his brothers, Raymond C. Bender Jr. and William Bender.

He is survived by: his children, Joyce Rice (Sean), Sherrie Taylor, Joe Bender (Pam) and Carol Mason (Liam); and his grandchildren, Stuart, Cortney Rice, Andy, Bobby Taylor, Lindsey McKelvy, Garnet, Ian and Jared Mason.
