He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta L. Harman (White); his parents, Golden D. Harman and Sallie M. Harman (Shirk); his son Michael; and his brother Sturley.

He is survived by: his son Robert D. (Lisa) of Morehead City, NC; his grandchildren, Jennifer Harman Gaskill, Randy Jackson and Robert G. Harman II; and his great grandchildren, Laurana, Harper, Andrew and Lily.
