Daniel Grunmeier wrote a sympathy message

“Andy was such a good person. Having coached with him for 12 years, he taught me a lot about wrestling, but more importantly, he taught me how to help people. Andy would go out of his way to help anyone if he thought it would brighten that person’s day. He’d even send the occasional gift via office mail just because he thought I’d like it. Just a genuinely good guy, which is hard to find today. I’m going to miss seeing him and hearing him call me coach, even though he was always the one teaching.”

Alex Hoffman wrote a sympathy message

“I got to know Andy as a colleague and friend over the past several years while working at Pennfield. He made an impact on every student and teacher with whom he crossed paths. He was a selfless man who always put others' feelings and needs before his own. Andy also recognized the importance of making others feel welcome and appreciated. I am so saddened to lose him, but I know that his legacy will live on. Every time I think of Karate Kid or an 80s horror film, I'll picture his smiling face”

Gina Meyer wrote a sympathy message

“I am so heartbroken over Andy's passing. We worked as Sapphire and Charger teammates at Pennfield for the last 15 years. Andy was truly one of the most generous and caring people I knew. He was always ready with a pick-me up sentiment, funny reference to an 80s or 90s tv show or song, an Amazon ordered school supply or a piece of candy for the team. He made connections to the students and would spend endless hours thinking of ways to help all of his students. He will be truly missed at PF.”

“Andy has been such a great friend for the past 15+ years, teaching with him at Pennfield, and building an amazing friendship with him. His sense of humor, ability to quote/identify any quote from The Simpsons, and any movie, especially those from the 1980s, his love of sports, fantasy sports & collectibles, the occasional wager, and his genuine kindness and sincerity will never be forgotten. We are all in shock and heartbroken. Please accept my sincere condolences. Andy will be greatly missed!”

“Andy and I taught together since he started in North Penn and we quickly became good friends. He was a gifted athlete, both as a wrestler at JMU and a lineman on the Muhlenburg football team. More importantly, he was a friend that would do anything to help someone in need. His humor, quick wit, and expansive knowledge of movies and sports will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues.. Rest In Peace, my friend.”
