He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Spangler and Laura Spangler; his wife Nancy Spangler; and his brother Ronald. He is survived by: his son Ed Spangler, Jr. (Valerie); his grandchildren, Sasha (Dan), Travis (Shannon), Mallory, Natalie and Matthew; his great grandchild Jett; and his siblings, Richard (Ellen) and Barbara (Rege).
