She was predeceased by: her parents, Amos Gilbert and Jessie Gilbert (Chaney); her sons, Thomas (Snooky) and Roderick Jeter (Hoppy); her siblings, William, Charlie, Perry Gilbert, Louise Gilbert Ingram, Fannie Gilbert Smith, Mary Lawrence Gilbert Summer, Jessie Belle Gilbert Walker and Imogene Gilbert Taylor; and her friend Wilma Steward.

She is survived by: her sons, Ivan (Teddy) and Sheldon Jeter (Spunky); her sister Rosecilla Walker; and her close friends, Louise West, Louise "Sapp" Johnson, Anna Mae Brown and Anna Faye Gossett. She is also survived by great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins.
