He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Slater, Jr. and Barbara Slater (Holzworth); his grandchildren, Michael and Kristine; and his sisters, Irene Musgrove and Dorothy Kale (Russell).
He is survived by: his wife Fay; his children, David J. Slater (Ann) of Potsdam, NY and Susanne F. Rasely-Philipps (Daniel Philipps) of Saylorsburg, PA; his grandchildren, Samantha, Leo and Valerie (Michael); and his great grandchild Maggie.
