He was predeceased by: his wife Royene Eckhardt; his parents, William Eckhardt and Pauline Eckhardt; and his sister Dorothy Eckhardt. He is survived by: his wife Nadine L. Eckhardt of Woodburn; his sons, Jeff Eckhardt of Ruston and Timm Eckhardt of Bakersfield; his daughter-in-law Beth Eckhardt of Bakersfield; his son Steven Eckhardt of Fresno; his daughter-in-law Nicole Eckhardt of Fresno; his grandsons, Rob Eckhardt of McKinney, Nicholas Eckhardt and Brendan Eckhardt of Bakersfield; his sister Verna Kuhn of Portland; his brother-in-law Alfred Kuhn of Portland; his sister Edna Wilhelm of Yamhill; his daughter-in-law Brian Bischoff of North Bend; his children, Kathy Bischoff of Sarasota and Todd Bischoff of California; and also, Ore and Sandy Bischoff of North Bend. He is also survived by three children, son.

Robert passed away from complications of Alzheimer's.
