He was predeceased by: his parents, Connie Sykes and Arden Sykes; and his brother Harvey Sykes. He is survived by: his wife Alyce Sykes; his daughters, Lisa Harkless and Janel Yergen; his grandsons, Mychal Harkless, Arron Curry, Wayne and Emerson Guretzki; and his sisters, Bonnie Beacock and Gladys Dole. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
