He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Emery Gwin and Alice Leah Gwin (Parker); his sister Sharon Carson; his granddaughter Chelsi Gwin; and his sons, Michael Gwin and Darrell Gwin.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Gwin of Mary's Catholic Church; his children, Stephanie Gwin (Bryan Traylor), Julie (Matt Chesley) and Richard K. "Rick", Jr.; his daughter-in-law Marcie Gwin of Redmond; his sister Dorothy; his brother-in-law Darrell Rocke of Cornville, Arizona.; his grandchildren, Nikki Pupo, Cody Gwin, Travis, Tara, Trever Gwin, Peyton, Michael and Cole Chesley; his stepgrandchildren, Phil, Daniel, Naomi Traylor, Tessa and Scarlett Walcott; and also Judi Gwin (Eide). He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
