He was predeceased by: his parents, John Randolph Steele and Mary Agnes Steele (Boniedot); his wife Rosa Faus Pierce; his brothers, Clarence, Claude and Frank Steele; and his sons, Dan Steele and Deno Calhoun.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Steele of San Bernardino and Mary Ann; his son-in-law Robert Kreel (Betty Jo Woods) of Republic; and his foster son Jimmy (Sylvia Richards) of St. Helens, Oregon.. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances to be contributions to the Cancer and Alzheimer's Society in his memory.
