He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nancy Ann Lacey (McGovern) and William Francis Lacey; his wife Maurine Lacey; his children, Gerald Dietz (Renate) of Oregon City, William Stevens (Sarah) of Tigard, Shelly Lacey-Maulding (Christopher) of Newberg and Katherine Stevens-Sills (Bill); and his grandchildren, Julia McVay, J. D. Dietz, Sean Dietz, Emily Ryan, Rachael Howe and Cora Maulding.
