He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Moores and Fern Moores (Harper); his wife Dorothy; his sister Evelyn Scovell; his grandsons, Shawn Fitzpatrick and Ryan Moores; and his nephew Alan Scovell.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Kaastad (Paul) of Vancouver, WA., Diana Fitzpatrick (Allen) of Tillamook, OR., Laura Magwood (Phil) of Roy, OR., Merrill Moores Jr. (June) of Scappoose, OR. and David Moores (Tami) of Astoria, OR.; his close friend Pam Cagle; and also Sammy. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Merrill was a member of the Elks Lodge, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and VFW.
