He was predeceased by: his parents, Vic Nielsen and Una Nielsen (Emerson); his siblings, Don (Helen) and Joan (Gene); and his son Bob.
He is survived by: his wife Dottie; his children, Kris (George) and Dan (Cathy); and his grandchildren, Ben Hodgdon, Jenny Ragan, Tyler Eichenberg, Ryan, Laura, Brett, Bailey, Hannah and Emma Nielsen. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and much loved nieces and nephews.
