He is survived by: his wife Susan Gerhards; and his children, Merissa Sherwood, Jennifer Clark (Marcus), Maegan Gerhards, Nathan Gerhards (Georgia), Marcie Thomas and Andrea Gerhards (Peter Bush). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
