He was predeceased by: his parents, Dick Patten and Cecil Patten; and his children, Richard and Lorie Haley. He is survived by: his wife Joye; his brother David Patten; his children, Judi Patten (Mark Appleby), Morgan Patten-Dingell and Eric Dingell; and his grandchildren, Joshua Scharer, Jesse Scharer, Jeff Karlin, Julia Durandeau and Caden Dingell.
