It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brian Robert Cossack (Salem, Oregon), born in Youngstown, Ohio, who passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends.
Brian R. Cossack, 62, of Salem, Oregon, passed away suddenly on December 20, 2023. He was born August 24, 1961 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Margaret Repasky Cossack.
Brian attended Struthers High School and was a 1979 graduate of Mahoning County Vocational School, and he graduated magna cum laude from Kent State University in 1987. Following an internship with rock station WMMS in Cleveland, he then moved to West Palm Beach and worked as a radio announcer and disc jockey, a perfect showcase for his distinctive voice, sharp sense of humor, and love of music. He later moved to Los Angeles then San Fransico and worked on-air operations in television broadcasting as a freelancer before moving to Salem in 2002.
After moving to Oregon, Brian owned and operated his record store, Harvest Music, sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of rock music and vast record collection with customers worldwide for the past 21 years. From his brothers, he acquired a love of sports cars and took great pride in driving and maintaining them. Deeply committed to family ties, Brian served as his father’s caregiver during the last years of his life. Brian was always passionate about helping his family and friends anyway he was able.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Cossack and Margaret Repasky Cossack; and his siblings, Michael (Mickey) Cossack, Larry Cossack, Diane Marie Cossack and Katherine Mary Cossack.
Brian leaves his longtime partner, Mary Bjork of Salem, Oregon; his sister, Cynthia Braden of Stow; his beloved aunt, Dorothy Loshuk of Struthers; nephews, Michael Cossack, Eric Gbur, and Billy Braden; a niece, Melissa Benson; great-nephew and nieces, Zachary, Leah and Alexa.
