George Wellington Wicklander III Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of George Wicklander announces his passing. George died peacefully with his daughter holding his hand, October 31, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Comfort Care Unit, in Portland, Oregon at the age of 88.
George is survived by his wife, Ethel Wicklander; children Cindy and George IV; brother Francis and sister-in-law Penny Wicklander in Pendleton, Oregon; sister Diane and brother-in-law Herb McCord in Yuma, Arizona; grandchildren Jonathan Wicklander in Silverlake, Washington and Russell Charley III in Troutdale Oregon; great grandchildren Oliver Wicklander in Kelso, Washington, Angel Jumpingbull, Alex Jumpingbull, Chanté Charley, Skookum Charley in Troutdale, Oregon, and Niya Charley in Portland Oregon; and great great grandchild Salvatoré Charley Madriz in Portland, Oregon.
George is preceded in death by his parents Katie and George Wicklander Sr.; his brother Daniel Wicklander and grandson Ryan Wicklander.
George grew up in Pendleton, Oregon and graduated from high school there. Following graduation, he immediately enlisted in the Navy and served on an aircraft carrier. George met Ethel shortly after being honorably discharged and married her in Pendleton. They moved to the Scappoose/St. Helens area for George's job and have lived here for the past 57 years.
George retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Locals 701 and 302.
George was a devoted husband, father and family man. George will be forever remembered for his kindness and loving nature.
