With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jonathan Vaughan Smith (Redmond, Oregon), who passed away on February 24, 2018 at the age of 69. Jonathan was a man who loved God,, his family and others as well as being a faithful steward of the many gifts God gave him. Not only did he earn his Ph.D. at the U. of Oregon (go Ducks) but he was gifted musically and could play two recorders simultaneously, one in each nostril! (He also had a bassoon scholarship to the U. of Nevada and could play ANY reed instrument.) Called the "fun boy" as a child by his mother, he lit up every room he entered yet was serious about the important things of life. He helped people all the time, spoke in church and led many Bible studies.
As a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Jonathan and his wife Dawn served God for 15 years including 4 years in Mali, West Africa.
