He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy A. Slater and Hazel R. Slater. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his stepsons, Jon (Traci) and Wes Matson (Kuni); his daughter Theresa Lynn Newberry (Jeremie); and his brother Richard Lynn Slater (Diane). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
