It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darrel Dean Hicks of Prineville, Oregon, born in Condon, Oregon, who passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Darrel may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester William (Bill) and Martha Hicks (Grant). He is survived by: his wife JoAnne Mergel-Carlson; his children, Jerry, Judi and Amy Hicks; and his stepsons, Danny and Steve Carlson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to Hospice of Redmond in his honor, to benefit those with the same comforting and tender care they provided him.
