She was predeceased by: her parents, Chris Cougias and Kate Cougias (Al Szafranski); and her siblings, Jennifer Craver (Ginger) and Chris Cougias. She is survived by: her husband Al Szafranski; her children, Anne Bistan and John Szafranski; her son-in-law Steve Reed; her granddaughter Bria Bistan; and her sister Ann Dvorak (Gregg). She is also survived by cousins, and her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
