He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Shelton (Drew) and Nellie Shelton (Medlock); and his siblings, Ernie, Lowell Shelton and Freda Shelton (Sizemore).

He is survived by: his wife Norma "Sue" Shelton; his children, Kelly Shelton, Kelvin Shelton and Radha Shelton; his sister Avis Dowers; his grandchildren, Ian, Aaron and Anika Shelton; his great grandchildren, Sam and Bailey Shelton; and his pet Pepper.
