He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Staley and Beverly Staley (Deselm); his stepmother Janet Staley; and his sister Sandra Bartmess. He is survived by: his wife Tamara McLain Staley; his sons, Joseph Staley (Tess) of St. Helens and Thomas Staley (Naoko) of Portland; his grandchildren, Penny and Sota; and his siblings, Steven Blackthorne of West Linn, Ryan Staley (Rose) of Castro, Paul Staley (Kathleen) of San Diego, CA and Donna Locke (Kim) of La Grande. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
