He was predeceased by: his parents, Neva Mathews and Robert "Bob" Bateman; and his brother Phillip "Gene" Bateman. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Sherman Bateman and Timothy James Bateman; his wife Ila Bateman; his granddaughters, Alyssa Bateman and MaKenzie Bateman; and his great grandchild Aurora Edous.
