She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Francis Vanderzanden and Hermina Vanderzanden (Vandecoevering); her siblings, Dorothy Bernards, Ron Vanderzanden, Frank Vanderzanden, Bernice Rowley and Don Vanderzanden (Hubert James Bernards); her husband Hubert James Bernards; and her children, Barbara Barks (James), James Bernards, Patti McLeod (Michael), Janet Manglitz (Michael), Cathe Gignon (Roland) and Kenneth Bernards (Teresa).
